Brampton Valley Way

This walk and cycle trail runs from the outskirts of Northampton to Market Harborough along the trackbed of a disused railway line and National Cycle Route 6. The route passes Brixworth, Maidwell and Great Oxendon with the popular Brixworth Country Park just off the route. This is well worth a small detour as you will find the lovely Pitsford Reservoir which has a fine waterside cycling and walking trail to try. Cycles can also be hired here at the Brixworth visitor centre.
Eye Brook Reservoir
Eyebrook Reservoir is a 201.3-hectare reservoir and biological Site of Special Scientific Interest which straddles the border between Leicestershire and Rutland in central England.
Did you know, Rutland has a strong historical connection to the Royal Air Force (RAF) and played a small but significant part in the famous ‘Dambusters’ raid of the Second World War?
Eyebrook Reservoir, just south of Uppingham, was the place that 617 Squadron undertook much of its low level, over-water training in their Lancaster bombers
Kibworth Shooting Ground

Shooters often benefit from a lesson if they wish to refresh or improve their shooting skills, or maybe a little practice in preparation for the game season. Our experienced instructors are able to assess each shooter and then offer help and advice to correct any bad habits which may have been picked up. All aspects of shooting may be considered, from correcting problems with stance, gun mount, eye dominance, to simply hitting problem targets successfully.

Armourgeddon is locatedin the heart of Leicestershire. Armourgeddon enables you to drive a 17.5 tonne tank in a paintball battle. As well as tanks it is possible to drive other military vehicles over courses
set around a World War II bombing range. Other activities range from woodland paintballing, air rifle shooting, archery, quad safari, quad assault, clay pigeon shooting and hovercraft. ![]()

Attractions
For those that love the canal, a trip to the Foxton Locks is a must. This is a set of ten canal locks, which consist of two ‘staircases’ to direct the water.

The Canal Museum, the first of its kind in the country, is located in the pretty canal village of Stoke Bruerne along the Grand Union Canal. A historic Grade II listed corn mill, it offers three floors of rich waterway heritage and panoramic views.
Rutland Water Nature Reserve is an internationally recognised Site of Special Scientific interest (SSSI), Special Protection Area (SPA) and a Ramsar Wetland of International Importance. It is one of the best places to enjoy birds and wildlife in the UK. Search for rare spring migrants, admire fishing ospreys in the summer, enjoy the autumn wader passage and marvel at huge flocks of winter wildfowl. With events year round, walking trails and two visitor centres, you’ll be sure of an immersive wildlife experience for the whole family.

Beyond the garden is a magical five acre bluebell wood and a wildflower meadow.
The Stableyard Cafe serves homemade lunches and teas when the garden is open. The extensive nursery has over a thousand varieties of plants, many of which are unusual and are propagated from the garden
A fabulous garden nursery, lifestyle shop and restaurant, set just above the south shoreline of Rutland Water – the jewel in the centre of England’s smallest county.
The originally titled ‘Rutland Water Garden Nursery’ was established in 1992 and ran very successfully as a family-owned retail garden nursery, primarily focusing on growing bedding plants. In 2019 the original owners retired and the nursery was purchased by another local family, who were keen to make the most of its stunning location.
It is a lovely location and worth a visit if gardening and plants are your thing!

A family run Leicestershire farm with food at its heart producing high quality grass fed 21 day matured beef and lamb.
They now have a shop on the High Street in Kibworth & recently won an award for their BBQ collection.
They offer click and collect online perfect for our guests – the two shepherds huts each have a fire pit. Corky cabin has a gas barbecue.
Bridge 67 feed all of the cattle on natural foods, mainly grass and grain from the farm itself. In the Summer months the cattle live outside grazing on the green grass which grows here in the Debdale valley.
Local Towns & a bit further
The picturesque market town of Market Harborough is an ideal place to head for a range of well-known high street shops, independent boutiques and a range of restaurants and pubs. It is also home to the The Harborough Museum.
The town is steeped in history with St Dionysious Church and the old Grammer School located in the centre. This small town is a charming place to discover.
Oakham is in the County of Rutland and is a bustling market town rich in history and character. The market is on Wednesday and Saturday offering wide variety of stalls selling fruit & veg, fish and cheeses, bread, clothes, household goods and plants. Oakham Museum is a small local museum
Stamford is in the next door county of Lincolnshire, an easy drive along the A47. It has been the backdrop for many period dramas due to it’s black and white houses and stunning architecture. Stamford is home to the famous Burghley House which accommodates the annual Burghley Horse Trials in September. There are many good restaurants and boutique shops.
Stratford-upon-Avon, a medieval market town in England’s West Midlands, is the 16th-century birthplace of William Shakespeare. Possibly the most famous writer in the English language, Shakespeare is known for his sonnets and plays such as ‘Romeo and Juliet’ and ‘Hamlet’. The Royal Shakespeare Company performs his plays in the Royal Shakespeare Theatre and adjacent Swan Theatre on the banks of the River Avon.
It is a good hour’s drive from Cowslip Meadows but for a day trip well worth it!
