Since 2020 Willie and Harborough Woodland have planted over 800 tree saplings at Cowslip Meadows, bringing benefits to the land now and for generations to come. Green spaces improve wellbeing and reduces stress. It also has a verifiable impact on:
- Long-term soil regeneration – Deep root systems increase organic matter, rebuild soil structure and support fungal networks essential for nutrient cycling.
- Improved water resilience – Enhanced infiltration and water-holding capacity protect against both drought and heavy rainfall, strengthening future productivity.
- Nutrient stability – Reduced leaching and improved natural nutrient exchange decrease reliance on external inputs over time.
- Erosion prevention – Root systems anchor soil, safeguarding valuable topsoil for future generations.
- Climate adaptation – Trees buffer temperature extremes and increase carbon storage in both biomass and soil.
- Intergenerational land stewardship – Establishes permanent ecological infrastructure that supports sustainable farming beyond just our generation.
- Support pollinators, provides habitat for birds, bats, and small mammals & crreates wildlife corridors
- Capture and store carbon & Improve local air quality
